I used to think that I liked indie music. I guess I still do. But I have been sucked into the indie turns into mainstream market. About the only new indie stuff that I buy is from existing non-indie bands who put records out on their own labels (Travis, Supergrass).
For example here are my albums that I have most been looking forward to this year:
They are pretty much all from indie roots, but now are in majors. I am also awaiting Keane's Perfect Symmetry, Kaiser Chiefs' Off With Their Heads (but they are not on Amazon at the moment).
I might be being a bit harsh - but it illustrates that often the indie bands that I like are snapped up by majors, once they have had one or two singles issued on an indie label. I just need to change their labels in iTunes from "Indie" to "Mainstream Corporate Rock" and start buying more random stuff in shops.
